Anaesthesiology
The Department of Anaesthesiology at J.N. Medical College, Belgaum was established in 1966 with two faculty members soon after the college was founded. Postgraduate programs were introduced with Diploma in Anaesthesiology (DA) in 1978 and MD in Anaesthesiology in 1988.
Anatomy
Established in 1964 with the inception of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, the Anatomy Department was led by Dr. B. M. Desai, Professor, HOD, and Principal. Since then, it has grown under the guidance of experienced anatomists and dedicated technical staff.
Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry began in 1964 with the establishment of J.N. Medical College. Recognized as a separate department in 1966, it supported District Hospital laboratory services for many years and presently functions under KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research.
Cardiac Anaesthesia
The Department of Cardiac Anaesthesiology was established in 2010 to advance excellence in patient care and education. With MCI approval, the DM Super Specialty program commenced in 2011, paving the way for specialized training in cardiac anaesthesia.
Cardiology
The Department of Cardiology commenced in 1996 with diagnostic and critical care services. Since the establishment of its Cath Lab in 1997, the department has expanded its expertise in advanced cardiac procedures and comprehensive heart care.

The Department of Community Medicine established in January 1966, the Department is formerly known as Preventive and Social Medicine, was led by Dr. R. Bhaskar Rao. The department laid a strong foundation for community-oriented medical education and practical training.

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology was started in the year 1966. Dr. B. S. Kodkany was the first Head of the department since its inception. Dr. B. R Desai, Dr. M. K. Swamy, Dr. M. B. Bellad and Dr. Kamal Patil were the former Heads of the Department. Dr. Anita Dalal is the present Head of the department since the year 2020.
